Honored as one of America’s “Most Livable Cities,” Cathedral City cherishes its history-rich past as it lives in the moment and keeps an eye on the future. Originally home to the Cahuilla Indians for more than two thousand years, nearly 28% of the city remains within the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians’ reservation. In 1850, Col. Henry Washington of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers observed that the region’s other-worldly canyons evoked images of a grand cathedral, inspiring others to name the new township Cathedral City.

Cathedral City reveals an attractive tapestry of close-knit neighborhoods. Each has its own unique style and history, but share a strong sense of character and identity. From the view-enriched Cove enclave, Whitewater and Panorama to Dream Homes, Desert Princess, Century Park and more, the city’s communities offer something for everyone, no matter lifestyle or budget.

Home to a luxurious multi-screen theater and beautiful park, Cathedral City’s downtown is a favorite spot for weekenders, locals and families, with countless events, including the annual hot air balloon festival, attracting visitors from all across the Coachella Valley and beyond.

A luxurious new casino is currently underway on 14 acres downtown. Designed on a smaller scale than most, the site will be home to restaurants, bars, retail, mixed-used space and a brand-new city fire station.

Adjacent to Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City is ideally situated near the Palm Springs International Airport, major resorts, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, and an abundance of trails, golf courses and parks.
